The amphibious excavator is extremely productive in dredging, erosion control and erosion prevention. It also provides efficiency in waterway, river and pond shoreline construction and can be used for
maintenance and clearing of rivers, lakes and all other water projects. Amphibious excavators make difficult soft terrain and swamp dredgings a thing of the past and Ransome has them for rent. You can

Answers to frequently asked amphibious excavator questions:
|
|
Q: What is an amphibious excavator?
A: An amphibious excavator is specifically designed to perform dredging on soft terrain such as swamp, wet
land, and shallow water. It is much better adapted for removing silty clay, clearing silted trenches,
swampland operations and shallow water operations than traditional dredgers because it goes where
traditional excavators cannot go.
Q: Can excavators float?
A: It actually depends on the manufacturer. Please check with them on specific models.
Q: Can excavators go underwater?
A: No, only the front boom and stick and bucket. Since regular excavators can withstand some contact
with water, immersing them in shallow water can lead to substantial mechanical and electrical issues.
The ideal solution for wetland construction is the amphibious excavator, which we have for rent. These
specialized machines are designed and built to function in challenging aquatic and wetland
environments. So although they technically do not fully submerge under water they can operate on solid
ground, swampy areas, and in water bodies. They have seal-protected hydraulic systems to prevent
leakage and water ingress, and their undercarriage designs can give them excellent durability under
water. They also have advanced electrical systems to protect from water damage, ensuring a seamless
excavation operation in water environments.
